Rigorous Evaluation

Every lot in the auction must not only pass but also excel in TCL’s stringent, six-round evaluation process which begins with Best of Taiwan Open Competition and culminates in Taiwan Coffee Auction Invitational. The two competitions include a combined two rounds of green sorting and four rounds of cupping with the Cupping Form for Genus Coffea (GFGC). Scores are determined by averaging the jurors’ marks after removing extreme outliers and audited by Numeracy Lab, a National Taiwan Normal University spin-off startup. Moreover, any sample identified by the head judge as containing severe flavor defects is immediately disqualified without replacement.
