Located in Alishan of Chiayi County, Oe'otx Coffee Farm was transformed from a lily farm into a coffee farm by owners Voyu Tiakiana and Tanivu Kautuana after the infamous Typhoon Morakot and the subsequent August 8 Flood destroyed their operations in 2009. The aboriginal couple had at first aspired to open a coffee shop, but soon realized growing and processing their own coffee would best reduce the costs of their products. They began to learn about coffee cherries, parchments, beans, grafting, field management, and most importantly, how to battle coffee cherry borers.
