About Coffee Competitions

Executive Yuan's Council of Agriculture holds regional and national coffee competitions every year. These events attract different administrative bodies, coffee producers, and coffee professionals, having adopted the cupping and review system used by SCA/CQI over the years. Starting from 2020, participants in the national competitions must first secure favorable placements in the regional events. The following is a short list of the most recent national competitions.

Each administrative body then takes turn organizing the national competitions. Additionally, even local competitions could be as exciting as national competitions. Case in point, the 2021 Best of Alishan Coffee Competition saw the special prize winner in the natural category successfully auction off five kilograms of coffee at 430,000 NTD. Corporation sponsored events, such as the Truemeiyuan Taiwan Specialty Coffee Award, also exist.
